Phillip Cochrane

My name is Phil I’m the oldest rep also known as Phil “da beard “ I was about 10 years old when Istarted fishing my grandad gave me my first rod & reel. My first capture was probably a stickleback or gudgeon.

Back in the 60’s me and my brothers used to strap the rods to the crossbar of our pushbikes, rucksack on our backs, then cycle about 8 miles to Horton Kirby and fish the river Darenth for dace, chub, roach, perch and pike, occasionally the odd eel.

A few years later started fishing lakes for tench. I fished a lake back in the late 60’s witch is now awell known shopping centre “Bluewater” and used to catch Perch to 4lb Tench 10lb EELS to 8lb Rudd to 3lb there was some big Carp in there but I never fished for them.

I then started to concentrate on predators and fished mainly for Pike. 26lb 4oz is my PB. I have caught the odd scaley but by accident 20lb mirror on a deadbait 36lb 4oz on 2x 22mm halibut pellets. I’ve fished the river Ebro and have had cats to 110lb.

I do most of my fishing at Wintons in West Sussex and have had cats to 87lb 8oz. When I’m on the bank and anybody needs help with anything, if possible I’ll help. Tight lines everyone.
