My name is Ian, I started fishing at the age of 12 targeting carp and silver fish over at Keston ponds, I then started fishing the river Medway over Tonbridge targeting chub and pike. I then joint rockery fishery targeting carp.
I started fishing for Wels Catfish 10 years ago where I hooked and landed my first fish at a club lake in Kent. It was pouring with rain when my alarm screamed off and I was hooked into a 28lbs albino catfish, after the immense fight I was hooked on the fight and from then onwards I have always targeted catfish.
I booked onto south minster predator lake on the 26th of July 2016 for 48 hour session. Where I was lucky enough to catch the biggest catfish in the country which weighed 136lbs.
I caught the fish on my first night using 2x28mm halibut pellets the fight was hard, it took me into the set of pads which I managed to get the fish out from and into the net.
In september 2017 I fished the river Ebro for a week, I went on a private guided tour where I landed plenty of fish, the two biggest fish I landed weighed 180lbs and 160lbs.
I’ve been lucky enough to visit Thailand twice where I’ve landed lots of big fish including an arapaima weighing 200lbs.
I have a french trip booked up this year where I hope to land more fish and meet new people. I’m proud to be a team member of the welscatfish community and I’ve met a lot of interesting people on the way.
If you ever see me on the bank come and say hello.
Tight lines.
